The beginning of the month saw Monitor Audio launch the new Bronze Reference loudspeaker series. The seven model line-up comprises two stand-mounting speakers, the BR1 and BR2; two floor standing speakers, the BR5 and BR6; a dual-mode surround speaker, the BR-FX; a dedicated centre-channel speaker, the BR-LCR; and a 150W (RMS) active subwoofer, the BRW-10.
In designing the new Bronze BR series, we’ve re-tuned the hugely successful, award-winning Bronze Series, optimising every detail to re-define our meaning of entry-level performance. Utilising a beautiful pearlescent vinyl finish and vastly improved terminal panels, the seven slender Bronze BR models are gorgeous to look at and are easy to use and to integrate with décor.
The new Bronze designs have made an immediate impact within the industry, with the Bronze BR2’s emerging victorious in one of the most competitive categories at this year’s prestigious What Hi Fi? Sound & Vision Awards, held at the London Park Lane Hilton. Editor Clare Newsome handed Dean Hartley the coveted award for ‘Best Stereo Speakers £150-£350’, which was joined by three further awards for the company, marking an unprecedented night of success for Monitor Audio. The award for ‘Best subwoofer £500-£750’ went to the thunderous RSW-12; the superlatively sonic R90AV-12 won ‘Product of the year – Style speaker packages’; and for the second year running ‘Product of the Year – MP3 accessories’ was collected by the hugely successful i-deck.
