As capable with music as it is with home theatre sound, the beautifully bijou A10 punches like a heavyweight, expertly blending sky-wide high frequencies with a natural blast of delicious mid-range detail coupled to a depth of bass that simply defies the A10’s svelte dimensions. Its rigid die-cast alloy cabinet, piano- lacquered to a polished perfection imparts a sense of superior quality, and when teamed with a matching A40 at the centre and the awesome AW-12, the A10 completes a surround sound system unrivalled in its ability to combine the essential force of music and film sound and the power of de-rigueur design in a single fabulous statement.

The gold dome tweeter is formed from a ceramic-coated aluminium/magnesium alloy, gold anodised to a specific thickness for ideal stiffness and damping characteristics. Its new profile and surround geometry have been developed using advanced modelling tools, to provide the optimum qualities for accurate sound reproduction. The new design moves the first order of breakup to beyond 35kHz, producing a linear response way beyond audibility, which matches the wide frequency bandwidth available from HD music and cinema sound formats.
The gold dome is thinner, lighter, more rigid and therefore more efficient than domes made from other materials which are prone to distortion in the audio band.
A new type of port technology which uses a straight rifled design to accelerate air flow and reduce turbulence. HiVe II technology has the ability to move air in and out much quicker than a conventional port, the result is fast powerful bass coupled with superior transient response.
The Rigid Surface Technology (RST) cone profile is inspired by the Japanese art of Origami, which demonstrates how a very light material (like paper) can be strengthened and made more rigid by making small and precise folds on its surface. Monitor Audio has applied this principle in designing the CAM/RST cones for the GX and RX ranges. Developed and perfected using sophisticated computer modelling (Finite Element Analysis), the GX mid and bass driver cones have been strengthened by a series of radial ribs; the RX driver cones by a pattern of dimples. Our simulations have proved that RST significantly increases cone rigidity, allowing the radiating surfaces to resist mechanical bending forces, which can twist the shape of conventional driver cones to produce distorted sound. The strengthening effect of RST means that we can use thinner, lighter and more responsive C-CAM cones, which provide speed and accuracy while offering greatly reduced distortion. The RST patterns also help to displace standing waves that can propagate on the cone's surface.

Apex - What Hi-Fi? Award Winner 2011
Best style speaker package £2000+, Awards 2011. An expensive style system, to be sure, but also a fabulous one.

BEST STYLE SPEAKER PACKAGE £2000+
"You certainly can't buy a better made, better finished or (to our eyes, at least) better looking package at the price."

Apex has the pecs
"...High-frequencies are smooth as silk, speech couldn't be clearer if the actors were in the room and the rear soundstage is willfully expansive. And with music, this system nailed the emotion and energy of any recording I threw at it. Clean, full bodied vocals, metronomic timing and wonderful detail reproduction make for a spine-tingling listen and reveal it to be a fantastic all-rounder."

The holy grail of style speaker systems
"It offers the sort of powerful, insightful audiophile sound that you don’t automatically associate with satellite speakers, a result of the astonishing build quality and clever technology that lies within each unit."

Monitor Audio raises the style bar
"It's muscular when called upon, but articulate and beautifully integrated too, with little audible sign of the crossover from speakers to subwoofer."20 October 2012 Sten Borgstrom
Bought the Apex A10 as sole stereo speakers to be used with my NAD amplifier. I am amazed! Such depth, clarity and punch. Part 1 from the Keith Jarret Koln concert just reached a new dimension. My friend who has Gold series speakers agrees, unbelievable for such small speakers.

I am using these speakers in a 2.1 setup since 3 months: 2 - apex 10 Marantz SR 6006 Emotiva XRef 10" Blue Jeans 10 AWG I feel that these speakers have solid build quality, and sound very crisp/bright a bit too much for my taste, I am comparing them with PSB mini which i think i should have gone for... i fell pray to design over sound. But don't get me wrong these are good speakers but not for me you should listen for yourself, they open up a bit after 60-70hr. Lows: The on paper 60Hz response is over optimistic. realistically i would say 90-80 Hz. would love to see some graphs. Toe In: 10 degrees, does help. Since I don't have center. Movies: These are real good speakers for movies i guess. Note: i have these speakers on full blast when i was listening to Mombasa by Hans and i could actually feel the air punched out on my face through the HiVe ports (i was sitting more than 11 ft away). hope this helps.

My first but not last purchase of Monitor Audio speakers, these speakers really bring out the best with both music and film. The build quality and style are second to none.

I love my Apex 5.0, use an MJ sub.I listen mainly to multichannel music and I would describe the A10's as audiophile mini monitors. Sublime. They do need to be used with a sub as is to be expected. Seamless and detailed. The build quality is outstanding. You have to hear them to believe them!

Equally beautiful to look at as it is to listen to.

Went looking for a nice system to replace my B&W floorstanding home cinema set. Though sounding great in every aspect I got pretty tired of them hogging all that space in my livingroom. Auditioned a few compact systems, and some were quite impressive though not in the same ballpark as when I heard the complete Apex 5.1 system. The retailer only had the Radius 370HD subwoofer to demo with, but when I purchased my system I naturally got the Apex AW12. These satellites together with the subwoofer are really great. I wouldn't play them without it though. Not that the A10 sound thin, but I love bass! Listen to rock, pop and rNb and so far they've done em all justice! Film is even better though! Engrossing soundfeild from such small enclosures... I didn't even know that was possible. They are right up there with my former B&W. Well done.
