The svelte little i-deck 100 is bijou enough to blend with any space but can fill the largest rooms with an astonishingly clear full-frequency sound, comparable with many full-sized hi-fi systems. Dock your iPod or iPhone and the i-deck 100 streams its pure digital signal to a high performance audio engine, comprising two 75mm C-CAM bass drivers individually powered by customised twin 30W class-D amplifiers, and two 19mm C-CAM Gold dome tweeters, each driven by precision-tuned 15W power modules. Yet the beauty is more than skin deep: each time you plug it in the i-deck 100 intelligently adjusts the sound to compensate for room-boom and positioning, so you’ll enjoy a wider, more natural performance than you’d expect from such a compact design. Whatever the space, whenever the opportunity, the stunning i-deck 100 tunes in and sends out a big, clean audio experience.

Monitor Audio's engineers have developed a secret weapon for the i-deck called Automatic Position Correction. An integrated microphone measures irregularities caused by non-ideal room positions and uses a sophisticated Digital Signal Processor (DSP) to automatically adjust the i-deck to deliver the ideal sound - this is achieved automatically each time you turn on the system at the mains.
Because positioning of a speaker is so important in determining the sound that you hear, we have integrated a Digital Signal Processor into the i-decks which automatically adjusts the output based on the environment in which the i-deck has been placed. This intuitive process takes place automatically each time you power up the i-deck at the mains so you always hear the best possible sound, no matter what space restrictions you are working with.
In order to liberate all of the music on your iPod/iPhone, i-deck takes the digital stream from your iPod/iPhone to its own high quality 28/56 bit dual precision Digital-Analoge converter (DAC). By keeping data in the digital domain until the last seconds of processing, our engineers have succeeded in preserving the essence of the original digital master.
The gold dome tweeter is formed from a ceramic-coated aluminium/magnesium alloy, gold anodised to a specific thickness for ideal stiffness and damping characteristics. Its new profile and surround geometry have been developed using advanced modelling tools, to provide the optimum qualities for accurate sound reproduction. The new design moves the first order of breakup to beyond 35kHz, producing a linear response way beyond audibility, which matches the wide frequency bandwidth available from HD music and cinema sound formats.
The gold dome is thinner, lighter, more rigid and therefore more efficient than domes made from other materials which are prone to distortion in the audio band.
Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium is a material originally developed by the aerospace industry for jet engine components. Its properties are ideal for loudspeaker cones being extremely rigid, yet light enough to yield high overall efficiency. In manufacture, aluminium/magnesium alloy undergoes a three-stage stress-relieving process to remove surface deformation and molecular weakness. Once formed, the alloy cone is subjected to a high temperature anodic coating process in which a layer of pure ceramic alumina is depleted onto its surfaces to a depth of 50 microns, producing a completely rigid sandwich of alloy and heat-dissipating ceramic material.
Conventional cones are liable to flex or twist in operation, producing a significant level of audible distortion. C-CAM cones have a much higher resistance to bending stress and therefore exhibit much greater fidelity over their entire operating range. C-CAM tweeters and woofers share an audible consistency producing a smooth transition of frequencies and a sense of realism and cohesion in the soundstage.

i-deck 100 Review featured on T3.com
"Designed with high-end style to accompany premium substance the i-deck 100 is an all-round aesthetically pleasing piece of kit, capable of acting as a shelving unit’s focal point rather than simply another slab of lifeless black plastic"
"In terms of audio quality it is hard to fault the i-deck. Whilst sounds are detailed and diverse at standard and lower volume settings, pushed to the higher end of the volume spectrum the Monitor Audio dock comes into its own with deep, rich, audio unaffected by the distortion and warping found in so many of its competitors."

i-deck 100 Review by What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision
"One unique feature is the i-deck’s Automatic Position Correction (APC). When you power up the system for the first time it emits three different test tones. An internal mic measures these and either leaves the sound alone, or tunes it for being positioned close to a wall or in the corner of a room. We found the i-deck sounded best close to a wall up to around 30cm away. Taking the digital stream from your iPod or iPhone, the i-deck produces an open, spacious sound."
"Detail levels are excellent across the frequency range. Spin Maps by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the lead guitar sparkles, while the solitary vocal sounds expressive. Drums hit with precision and a sense of dynamism that some rivals find tough to match. The Prodigy’s No Good (Start The Dance) is a potent mix of rhythms and basslines, yet the i-deck laps them up, producing a splendidly attacking, rhythm-driven rendition of this club classic. Even at low volume levels, the i-deck’s dynamic capabilities shine through."

I bought the i-deck 100 from Richer Sounds in Brighton and consider it the deal of the century. Great build quality and the sound is great too.

Just bought this for my daughter for Christmas to accompany her new iPod. Spent a couple of weeks on the net investigating the best buy under £100, came across the 'usual iPod docking station suspects'. I must admit that i had not heard of 'Monitor Audio' and thought it sounded too specialist to afford. Thank you internet, 'What Hi-Fi' and 'Richer Sounds' for an amazing deal, sub £100. Unboxes it to test and see what all the fuss was about, 'I am mind blown by the sound and build quality of this system'. Point blank forget the rest. PS I never normally leave reviews.

Just got this today noon and am blown away by the sound of this i-deck. Even straight out of the box it was superb, can't turn it off yet, oh dear have 1200 songs 320kbps on the iPhone and same on iPad, gonna be late night I think. Amazing sound from such compact unit which looks good too. My wife loves it as well, a bonus that is. Well done you guys,This is definitely the dock to beat. Have heard them all now and glad I waited for the
i-deck 100.

I would say, this has a lovely sound and has a great build quality to it too. The whole experience fills a large room, and doesn't struggle too much on treble or bass. The only real downsides I can mention is the fiddly remote control, and lack of airplay .. though the wireless adaptor is mentioned...
